All components are fashion jewelry quality, made of silver plated components that will last a good while if treated with care and respect. But the pendant is not waterproof, although the jeweler's glue used is water resistant, so this could take some minor dampness but it is not waterproof and should be treated like any other piece of jewelry of this type, not worn in shower or while swimming.

Buffing with a soft polishing cloth from time to time will keep the silver plated pendant and chain clean and shiny, but do not clean with abrasive jewelry cleaner or silver polish which could remove the silver plating.
